Once your auction is ready to roll out...

Q. Once I’m ready to go, how do I let people know about my auction?
 
A. Great question! There are a number of ways for you to get the word out - and the best thing is we’ll help!
1. Use our easy sharing tools located on your account page. This will allow you to upload your contact list and share a customizable message and link to all your supporters via email, Facebook or Twitter.
2. Promote through Facebook, Twitter, email and instant messenger by copying your GoBid auction link. Be sure to tag us (@gobid.ca and fb.com/GobidOnlineAuctions) so we can give your posts a little extra attention.
3. Upload our GoBid badge onto your home page for the duration of your auction.
4. We’ll promote the heck out of your auction through our social media.
5. Tell Us a little more about your auction and we will highlight it in our biweekly newsletter.
6. Use our promotional tools located on your GoBid account page.

 
Q. How do people start bidding?
 
A. It’s easy. To start bidding, the user needs to Sign Up ! The information required is as follows:
Full Name (private)
Email address (private)
Phone number (private)
Username (public)
Password
Every bidder must register a valid credit card in order to securely place bids on an auction item.



Q. Can I bid on items I have posted on behalf of my auction?

A.
You can bid on items as long as you create your own user account. As the auction user, you are not able to bid on the items. We don't want other bidders worrying that the auction owner is trying to bid up their items as a ploy to make more money.
 
Q. What happens when the auction closes?
 
A. Once the auction closes, all winning bidders are notified automatically by email with a payment link. If they don't complete payment in a certain amount of time, we send them an email reminder. In the event they still don't complete payment, we will award the item to the next winning bidder.
 
 
Q. Winning bidders complete payment using credit cards. Is their information secure?
 
A. Absolutely. We do not store any users' credit card information. Stripe is certified to PCI Service Provider Level 1, which is the most stringent level of certification available. We receive 'tokens' from Stripe that only provides confirmation of the user's transaction success.

 
Q. Stripe is asking for my SIN # - do I have to provide this to set up an account?
 
A. No. When you are completing the form just leave the SIN field blank and submit the form. Your account will be activated immediately. You may receive a call from Stripe to validate your identity through another form of identification.

 
Q. When do I get money deposited into my bank account?
 
A. Stripe transfers money on a 7 day rolling period. This means that if a payment is made on Monday, you will receive the money in your bank account the following Monday. If you wish to change the frequency of transfers, you can adjust that information in the Account Settings of your Stripe account.

 
Q. How much is the credit card payment processing fee?
 
A. Stripe charges 2.9% plus 30 cents on every transaction. This is deducted from the payment prior to being transferred to you.

 
Q. How much does GoBid charge?
 
A. Our fee structure is broken down into 2 categories:

1. Registered charities or registered non-profits are charged 10% of the auction proceeds.
2. Businesses/organizations/individuals are charged 12%
of the auction proceeds.

This allows us to recoup some of our costs to promote, host, maintain and develop the site.
 
Q. Do you charge GST?

A. 
Yes. CRA guidelines indicate  that we must charge 5% GST on any income. This is 5% of the fee charged on the auction's total (ie: for a 10% fee charge, the GST included makes it 10.5%; on a 15% service charge the GST included makes it 15.75%)
