Q. The auction has ended, and I am the winning bidder. What do I do?
A. At the end of every auction, our system automatically sends a notification to the winning bidder along with a payment link. You will then have 96 hours to complete payment. If you do not complete payment within the allotted timeframe, you may lose the item and the next highest bidder may be contacted. Don't worry, we send you a reminder after 48 hours. Please note: To protect our charities from phony bidding we now require that all bidders register their credit card in their profiles and upon auction closing and after numerous attempts to communicate with winning bidder, Gobid reserves the right to charge the associated credit card but will only do so after direct communication has been made with the bidder. Should we not be able to directly contact you, the item will go to the next highest bidder.
Q. How do I complete payment if I am the winning bidder?
A. If you are the winning bidder, you will receive a notification that will include a payment link. Clicking on the link will take you to checkout where you will enter your credit card information to complete your purchase. If you have mistakenly deleted the email, don't worry. You can access the payment link in your account settings under 'Won' bids.
Q. Who is your payment provider and are they secure?
A. We have chosen Stripe as our payment provider. Stripe meets or exceeds the most stringent industry standards: each piece of their infrastructure and operations are designed with security in mind. Here are some independent articles about Stripe and their success in the payment space.
Please note that as of September 14, 2017 Stripe has changed some of their fee structures in that they will no longer refund Stripe fees if an item in an auction is refunded by auction owner.
Q. Can I store my credit card information for future check-outs?
A. Absolutely. In your account under the 'Profile' section, you have the ability to store multiple credit cards. To ensure the security of your data, we don't keep any of your information on our servers - it goes directly to Stripe, our secure payment processor. When you go to check out, you are given the option to use your stored credit card or enter a new one. You can even 'nickname' your credit card so it's easier to remember which one you stored.

Q. How do I arrange to receive my item once I have paid?
A. Each auction will have different arrangements regarding pick up or delivery of your auction item. These will be clearly stated in the check-out flow. Typically you will have the option of pickup or shipping (could be a fee).
Q. How does GoBid ensure that the people holding the auction deliver the item to the winning bidder?
A. We deal only with recognized charities and other not-for-profit organizations and have total control/review over who sets up an auction on GoBid.
Q. Do I incur any costs if I am the winning bidder?
A. No. The only additional cost you may incur would be shipping and that will be your choice as most of our auctions have the option for pick up.
Q. I noticed some auctions charge GST/HST and others don't. Why?
A. The charitable status of the fundraiser impacts whether they have to charge GST/HST or not.
